Sugar Days Events This Week

The community will be saluting Holly Sugar and the growers during Sugar Days 2001 this week Oct. 24-27 to celebrate another sugar beet harvest.

Holly Sugar, the growers and the workers create Sidney’s largest industry by far and once a year we take the opportunity to salute their contribution to our community. The Roundup, in cooperation with Holly Sugar, the Montana-Dakota Sugarbeet Growers Association, all Holly workers and area businesses, is again sponsoring Sugar Days 2001.
The Roundup will hold a grand prize drawing for framed artwork. Participating businesses will be given a five-pound bag of sugar to be used for display and to be given away. Employees of participating businesses will be wearing “You Can’t Beet Holly Sugar” stickers during the promotion.

In conjunction with Sugar Days 2001, The Roundup is hosting their annual “Make It With Holly Sugar” Contest Friday, Oct. 26 at Stockman Bank in Sidney. The public is encouraged to enter in any and all categories including cakes, cookies, pies, candy and other. Entries will be accepted from 9-10 a.m. at Stockman Bank. The first 25 entries will receive a free bag of Holly Sugar.

Prizes will be given away for first place in all categories and a People’s Choice Award totaling over $400.
